Description
VUA-17-2035C was built in Cadillac, Michigan and was shipped on 5/27/68 to Sayre Bros. Marine on Buckeye Lake, Ohio. She is the next-to-last of the plywood ski boats built by Chris-Craft. The 2 yr. series ended in hull #2036.
I purchased the boat in 1995 and kept her in the back of my shop until 2002 when a total reconstruction was begun.
The vinyl covered decks and covering boards were replaced with epoxy encapsulated Honduras Mahoghany.
The original 283 motor was damaged by freezing and was replaced with a Jasper long block.
All ancillary components are new or rebuilt.
Upgrades include:
1. Edelbrock performer intake
2. Holley 4-barrell
3. Petronix ignition
4. Electric fuel pump
The interior is all new with Nautolex flooring and engine box; pleated marine grade naghohyde seats and re-designed mahoghany dash with heavy-duty Stewart-Warner and Teleflex guages.
Other features of note are:
1. New stainless prop shaft
2. Original fiberglassed bottom which was factory option
3. Restored original tandem trailer with new axles, tires, & wheels
4. Custom Grant steering wheel with C.C. emblem
5. New Lexan windscreen
6. Wiring is 95% original & very good
7. Original cowl vents and throttle, re-plated by Graves
8. Original Corvette heads included
9. New fuel tank
This boat now has 120 hours of use and is being offered at a bargain price to facilitate completion of my 1955 37' Commander.
Awards to date are:
1. ACBS Craftsman Award, 2003
2. Top Winner, St. Pete Yacht Club, 2009
